This is actually an issue that both parties agree on and I would hope most people with a brain can agree with. 84% of Republicans, 74% Democrats, and 74% of Independents agree on limiting the number of years a Congressman may serve.
The poll also shows 70% of voters disapprove of the job Congress is currently doing. That includes most Republicans 84%, as well as more than half of Democrats 54%, despite the fact that their party controls both houses of Congress. About one voter in five gives Congress an approval (22%).
Term limits would prevent a single congressman from serving multiple terms, be it the House of Represenative, or the Senate. A great example of the lack of term limits is the Senator Robert Byrd who served from January 3, 1959 to the day of his death June 28, 2010.
